GFWC of Missouri is a state federation of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc.  GFWC was founded in April 1890, when 61 clubs from around the country convened in New York City and formed the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement. Headquartered in Washington, DC, GFWC offers a network of support to better serve local communities.  GFWC of Missouri, Inc. was organized in 1896 and admitted, that same year, to the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

What is our Purpose?

"To be the pre-eminent women's organization providing support to local, state, national and global communities through volunteerism."

Our members are united through district, state, and regional organization. Members volunteer their time, talents and resources in service to others. Members become responsible, dynamic leaders in communities and expand their horizons by extending the hand of friendship to prospective members. The combined force of members on the club, district, state, and international levels offers strength in unity.

GFWC of Missouri offers college scholarships to deserving students in Missouri universities each year. Scholarships are offered in the areas of Art, Forestry, Health, Law, and Music. Local GFWC clubs contribute toward these scholarships.

Education programs are offered to the youth and adults of Missouri by local clubs and our state organization. Excellent program and project materials are offered by GFWC in six departments: The Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, Public Affairs, and International Affairs.
